Caritas Development Institute (CDI)

Caritas Development Institute (CDI) is the Training and Research Center of Caritas Bangladesh. CDI was established in 1983 with a view to extending training, evaluation and research services to Caritas projects staff and other NGO personnel, peopleís organization, Church and ethnic institutions in Bangladesh. Since inception CDI has been assisting Caritas projects and other development partners through continuous innovative practices. It also contributes to orientation of development activists; enhance their knowledge, skills and develop positive attitudes utilized for improved performance.

From January 2010 CDI has been started its journey as a Trust of Caritas Bangladesh.

Mission

Caritas Development Institute aspires to capacitate Caritas Bangladesh, partner NGOs, Peopleís Organizations, Churches and Ethnic Institutions for efficient and effective management of their projects in the way of improved institutional and personnel management capacities. It aspires to develop itself gradually as a self-sustaining organ of Caritas Bangladesh with its key domains.

Values

Caritas Development Institute desires to uphold the values of Option for the Poor. Spiritual motivation and inspiration should guide it to work for the people without discrimination. It believes in the latent potential of people who can become the masters of their own destiny and be liberated through an institutional and human resource development approach. CDI is guided by humanistic spirit and advocates for a pluralistic society with an increased say of the civil society. It promotes peaceful coexistence and solidarity among people belonging to different religions and communities. It believes in gender equity and aspires to be a promoter of environmental soundness.

Team spirit, openness and transparency are believed to be key determinants of organizational performance. Lastly, CDI wants to establish as proactive force for sustainable development.
